What Gutter Cleaning Involves
We work by hand, not by leaf blower. Blowers clear loose surface debris but push fine sediment and shingle grit deeper into the gutter and into the downspout elbows. Instead, we scoop debris by hand, bag it, and remove it from the property. Every service includes a full downspout flush: running water from the top until it exits cleanly at the bottom. If a downspout connects to an underground pipe, we check the exit point. If water does not flow freely, we tell you before assuming there is a bigger problem.
Signs You Need This Service
- Water spilling over the gutter edge during rain
Not dripping — actively spilling. If a section overflows every time it rains, there is a blockage in the gutter or in the downspout backing water up.
- Dark streaks or staining on the siding
Vertical staining below the gutter line is caused by water running down the outside of the gutter instead of through the downspout. This usually means the gutter is overflowing or pulling away from the fascia.
- Visible plant growth in the gutters
If you can see moss, grass, or small plants from the ground, there is enough soil and organic matter in the gutters to sustain plant life. The gutters are well past due for cleaning.
- Sagging or pulling sections
When gutters hold standing water and debris for months, the weight pulls the hangers out of the fascia. A section that dips or sags is no longer draining properly.
What Affects the Cost
- Number of stories — single-story costs less than two-story or higher
- Total linear footage of gutter on the property
- Volume of debris — a light cleaning costs less than compacted, season-old blockage
- Whether downspouts connect to underground drains that need extra flushing
When You Do Not Need to Hire Us
If your home is one story and you are comfortable on a ladder, cleaning your own gutters is a reasonable DIY job. You need a stable ladder, a bucket, and a garden hose. We are also not needed if your gutters have a functioning guard system and only require an annual flush — something you can do from the ground with a hose attachment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How often should gutters be cleaned in Piscataway?
- Most homes in Piscataway and Middlesex County need cleaning twice a year — late spring after tree seeds fall and late fall after leaves drop. Properties near large maples or oaks sometimes need a mid-summer cleaning as well.
- How long does gutter cleaning take?
- Most single-family homes take 45 to 90 minutes. You do not need to be home. We work around your schedule and confirm by phone or text when the job is done.
- Do you clean gutters in bad weather?
- We work in light rain. We do not work on icy rooflines. If conditions require a reschedule, there is no charge for the cancellation.
- What is included in a standard cleaning?
- Debris removal by hand, full downspout flush, and a visual inspection of the gutter system. If we find a cracked seam, loose hanger, or separation at a joint, we note it and let you know.
